Qualitative virtual ethnography and analysis of 134 Chinese-produced Spanish-language vlogs.

  • Vloggers combine resources from formal education and informal media practices.
  • Subtitles, translation, feedback requests and danmu comments support multimodal expression and reflection on language.

The findings describe practices on one platform and in a particular learner context.

Use this study to inform research on learner-created video and to consider multilingual subtitles, reflection and peer feedback in language-learning projects.
